How will Chelsea Gardens benefit our community?

Gardens of this nature are an economic catalyst; the gardens will employ up to 400 persons, skilled and unskilled, part-time and full- time. Area hotels, motels, restaurants and service stations will benefit from the anticipated 100,000 annual visitors. America welcomes over 50 million visitors to its shores each year, and tours of gardens are high on their “must see” lists. 

Statistics indicate gardening is the largest industry in the world; it ranks third in America’s retail sales and is the first, second and third largest employer in 32 states.  Chelsea Gardens will, whenever possible, purchase plantings and supplies from local businesses.

Gardening is the number one outdoor activity in America.  Every spring 78 million people take trowel in hand and submit to their agrarian bent. Gardens and gardening dramatically enhance the quality of life and increase property values.
